The Last Mass

It was to be our last mass in Phat Diem before leaving for America. Adam did a wonderful job proclaiming the first reading.
Michael led the responsorial psalm.
At communion, we all went up for Eucharist or a blessing. This is the chapel on the grounds where the children, seminarians, and priests pray.
The kneelers are wood, the same wood as the pews. Our knees have become used to kneeling on a hard surface. We can only imagine how it must feel to kneel for a long time.
What strikes us about the chapel is how light it feels even on a hot and humid day. There are no screens on the windows, so there is no air conditioning for the summer or heat in the winter. There are, however, large fans next to each pew on the side that help greatly.
The sisters are wonderful at flower arranging, and you can see their handiwork here. The two 4 foot urns on either side of the altar are Chinese and considered priceless.
Here we all are with Fr. Luong. We all love and respect Fr. Luong for his spirituality and his courage. He is a person we admire and we greatly appreciate him spending all this time with us.
After mass, Nhan and Tien fist bump. The choir loft is behind them. There are little plastic stools where the small children sit for mass and prayer.
Now we have Cooper, Michael, Tuan, Evan, and Mike showing solidarity. Ask the guys what solidarity means when they get back.
Tien and Carlo. 'Nuff said.
The guys hanging around and Adam happy about something. Wonder what he's thinking.
