What's a football? That's a great question, and the Serra students are always happy to answer a great question. Mike decided to show some Vietnamese students how to throw a football, not an easy task for a rookie. But I believe you will be amazed at how well they did in their first lesson.
For part of the work time today, the students swept the walks and weeded small gardens. We did it quietly and the time passed quickly. Here is a picture of our break after finishing.Yeah, that's Evan. Even after working in the afternoon he has time to enjoy life.
Ms. Farrell - or as she's called here, Teacher Peggy - brought beads for all the girls to make necklaces and bracelets. Here she is with the little ones.
What was interesting was the amount of focus by the girls, making sure each bead was the right shape and color they wanted, forming patterns, and matching styles.
Teacher Peggy spent time measuring each girl's wrist to provide a perfect fit. She noted that at first the girls were kind of wary, then they got excited, then they ran and got their friends. I think we're all finding that making friends is easy when you spend time with people.
