In the summers I spend time with my good friends in Phat Diem, Vietnam, a small country village with a world famous cathedral. Here are some of my musings. If you would like to correspond, please email me: garymeegan@gmail.com.

It's Scrabble Time Again
When they heard that the advanced class got the chance to play Scrabble, the beginning class insisted on a game. I said OK, and threw in the incentive of a bag of potato chips to each member on the winning team. They were ultra-competitive and it was a real contest. We decided to play for only 90 minutes and, as you can see, we got lots of good words down on the board. And as for learning, they got to use the dictionary, so they improved their dictionary skills and found new words they didn't know existed. All in a day's work in Phat Diem.
Oh, and as for the potato chips, they have a distinctly teriyaki flavor. What cracks me up is that the bag has a picture of a "Manhattan Rib-Eye Steak" on it. Yup. That's what we Americans like: a juicy steak with a bag of potato chips.
