Fr. Peter Hien, the man who arranges everything for diocese and my good friend, left to travel to Rome. There is a Vietnamese house of studies there where he is going to stay. My students, Vinh and Dinh, have just completed their third year of theology in Rome and have one more year before they can come home. The three of them will travel in the north of Italy, visiting many places including my favorite, Assisi. Fr. Peter promised he would say hello to my good buddy Pope Francis for me. See you next summer, Fr. Peter!
Fr. Peter and the bishop joking about what food to eat in Rome. The bishop knows his way around those old streets and has many recommendations for great places to dine.
Fr. Bo making sure Fr. Peter gets out safely. This is the new car for the diocese, an SUV. With the very bad roads in the countryside, it will save a great deal of money on alignments, tires, and wear and tear. Ciao, Fr. Peter.
In the summers I spend time with my good friends in Phat Diem, Vietnam, a small country village with a world famous cathedral. Here are some of my musings. If you would like to correspond, please email me: garymeegan@gmail.com.
