In the summers I spend time with my good friends in Phat Diem, Vietnam, a small country village with a world famous cathedral. Here are some of my musings. If you would like to correspond, please email me: garymeegan@gmail.com.

Mr. Dao's Coffee Shop
The place to be for coffee in the mornings is the room of Mr. Dao. He is in charge of many things here at the diocese and will add to his list of stuff to do when the children arrive in a week. He knows the magic of just how to combine the sugar with the coffee so that the drink is stiff but sweet. With us that morning is Dinh, Dong, Fr. Duc, and Mr. Dao. Feel free to join us about 5:45 a.m., across from the cathedral store.
Here is a picture of Fr. Duc and I after some of Mr. Dao's great coffee and some wonderful concentration. Fr. Duc is always an interesting person and he knows the great history of the cathedral and its people. He also has a great love of languages and we decided we were going to spend a good deal of time just talking. And that is one more thing I like about being here...people talk, and they also listen.
