My extended family in Vietnam came to visit me at the seminary: Vinh, his wife Binh, seminarian Nam, and little Nam Vu. We were off on Tuesday to visit the family of Dinh, now a seminarian in Rome.
After parking the car at Dinh's oldest brother's house, we walked down the lane to his parent's house.
After lots of talk, some Vietnamese moonshine, and snacks, we had to head back to Phat Diem. But first, the picture. Dinh's mother and father are seated. What a great family.
On the way back to the car we stopped at the house of Dinh's older brother who raises pigs. We got the grad tour. These are the young ones. Lots of oinking going on.
Here's a older one getting checking us out. Snorting loudly and shaking his nose were his characteristics.
This is Vinh on the left who came to guide us. ON the right is Dinh's sister-in-law. They are proud to be able to raise so many pigs, allowing them to make good money.
In the summers I spend time with my good friends in Phat Diem, Vietnam, a small country village with a world famous cathedral. Here are some of my musings. If you would like to correspond, please email me: garymeegan@gmail.com.
